Donington Park 2008 We are delighted to be able to confirm a new date for our scheduled July meeting at the beautiful Donington Park circuit of 22nd - 24th October 2010, which will now be the final championship round for all solo classes (sidecars conclude 1 week later at the International Sidecar Festival at Mallory Park).
The circuit now has new leaseholders and is in the process of being put back into the condition expected of one of the worlds iconic venues. Rather than opting for a quick fix, the new operaters have put in place extensive plans (including resurrecting the Dunlop Bridge) to make sure that the re-launch of the circuit goes without any hitches.
Thundersport GB were the only modern bike club to keep the faith with Donington Park and we are absolutely delighted with this outcome. We have now issued new entry forms for the revised date and these have been sent as a priority to those who had already entered the July meeting. The new Entry Form is now available in Download Docs as is the Entry form for the test morning. We are working together with Donington Park to make this a really special event to round off the 2010 season and show what's in store for 2011.
Donington Parks new race meeting schedule kicks off on the weekend of 4th-5th September with the Grand Prix Masters Historic meeting.

Summer Sizzler at Oulton Park |
|
Monday, 28 June 2010 |
|
.jpg) www.wallysracephotos.com After two years of bad luck with the weather in Cheshire, the sun finally came out to greet us at Oulton Park for the latest round of the Thundersport GB Championships.
The other great news was that compared to an event such as..... lets say the World Cup, the spectators at Oulton this weekend were not disappointed as we were treated to some great solo and sidecar racing out on circuit.
For the Eastern Airways F1 Sidecar Championship, this was their 'round three' and the big news in the series came before a single wheel was turned as we promptly found out that Current World Champions Ben and Tom Birchall would be absent from the meeting due to a nasty crash suffered in Croatia the week before.

Lap Records Demolished at Cadwell Park |
|
Wednesday, 02 June 2010 |
|
.jpg) PLJ Photo After a dull and dreary Saturday practice and qualifying, the weather at Cadwell Park only affected a few of the races on Sunday before the dry weather arrived for Bank Holiday Monday where ten new lap records were set at the Mountain circuit in Lincolnshire.
One rider in particular impressed us with his pace in the Nitro GP3 class as Arnie Shelton from Bourne, not only took his first ever race victory on Sunday but backed it up with a second place finish and another win on Monday to climb up to second overall in this closely fought championship.
Arnie is what you call a true petrol head racer, every penny of his earnings go into his racing and bar the help he gets from close friends and family, he is without sponsorship to compete with and eats, sleeps and breathes motorcycle racing.

Tricky Snetterton for the Solo's |
|
Thursday, 06 May 2010 |
|
.jpg) www.PLJPHOTO.com Our third meeting of the year at Snetterton was a real test for all our solo classes this weekend as weather played a big part in deciding some of the results in a fascinating Bank Holiday of racing with Thundersport GB.
Formerly an air base, Snetterton in Norfolk is never short of a breeze no matter what time of year you visit, but as hard as the sun tried to break through, it was a windy and wet affair for the most part with some horizontal hail even thrown into the mix.
The LMB Streetfighters has so far been a fairly predictable Championship up to now after the opening two rounds of the championship has seen S&B Automotive rider Jamie Wilkins in the 'A' class and Barry Utting riding under the Penrith Motorcycles banner in the 'B' class, take complete control and dominate the vast majority of races.
This weekend was slightly different though....... Having missed the opening dry qualifying session and instead earning big brownie points by spending the day with his wife on her birthday, Wilko had it all to do in the second session with the circuit wet and extremely slippery.
Despite this, Jamie posted a lap time good enough for 13th on the grid and although the fourth row is a fair way back, the Trowbridge rider was confident of a good result and was eager to extend his championship lead.

Poor weather fails to stop the Sidecars from Sizzling at Snett |
|
Wednesday, 05 May 2010 |

.jpg) www.wallysracephotos.com Having had a delicious start to the season with bright sunshine in South Wales, we were brought back down to earth with a bang this weekend at Snetterton as the weather took a nasty turn in Norfolk for round two of the Eastern Airways UK F1 Sidecar Championship.
With a dry first qualifying session on Saturday afternoon, the times set during that stint were to end up as the starting positions for the first race as heavy rain had hit the second session leaving Tim Reeves and Gregory Cluze with the perfect start to the weekend with pole position ahead of a much improved Andy Peach and Charlie Richardson and current British Champions Roger Lovelock and Mark Howard.
As the Superpole race began though, Current World Champions Ben and Tom Birchall wasted no time from fourth on the grid to slide into second spot and after a few laps, the Mansfield brothers had even seen off Reeves and Cluze and were looking good for their first victory of the campaign.

Snetterton Straights Await |
|
Thursday, 29 April 2010 |
|
With the forecast predicting some showers over the weekend, Snetterton in Norfolk could well produce one or two surprising results as for the first time this season, all classes will be racing on the straights of Snetterton.
The Eastern Airways Euro F1 Sidecar Challenge will again join us as we welcome back the Bridgestone Thundersport 500 Championship and the BMC Filters Formula 600's.
With it being the fastest circuit on our calendar, one class in particular always gets highlighted as one to watch in Norfolk as the BSN.com GP1 + Supertwins get a chance to show off their speed.
Joint Championship leaders Dave Jackson and Phillip Crowe will be both hoping for rain too, the pair both run well in the wet and after a dominant performance from Peter Baker at Snetterton last year, they will be well aware that the 51 year old will be eager to close in on the pair in the standings.

Celebrating its 20th year anniversary, the circuit of Pembrey provided Thundersport GB with an early taste of summer this weekend as temperatures soared in South Wales for the second round of the season.
The marshal's faces were a similar colour to their overalls and the sun block was out for the exciting first Welsh round of the championship as circuit manager Phil Davies put on a great show for the paddock and spectators.
With the weather perfect and the circuit providing its usual grip, it was not just a battle for riders and teams but also for the tyre manufacturers as many competitors racing on two and three wheels struggled for grip around the 1.456 mile circuit and raced to find the right set up to give them an advantage.
