Superteen Mayhem from last years MotoGP
Britains most varied and exciting motorcycle racing championship is counting down towards lift off on 13th-14th March at Mallory Park, so clear your appointments diary, tell mum that Mothers Day is a special day for sharing a days racing with her favourite son and book your tickets now.

The worlds best young riders get to size up the competition in the opening round of the Aprilia Superteen Challenge, the longest running one make series on the planet, and 50 young hopefuls will have their foot on the first rung of the ladder to Moto-GP stardom when the lights go out to start the season. The series that launched the career of Casey Stoner has another young Australian in it this year in the shape of Brad Shaw from Victoria state, intent on taking on the best of the European riders and series boss Dave Stewart reckons this seasons competition will be hotter than ever.

Moto 450 goes global
Thursday, 25 February 2010

www.450moto.com
Well it's taken 2 years of hard work, but Moto450 has finally really "arrived" with a bang that can be heard on the other side of the Atlantic!

Subsequent to a meeting between Thundersport GB and Gavin Trippe, the Moto450 series will become part of the F-450.com global branding. There are now series running in 6 countries for these fantastic little bikes and we are all working together to take the concept to the highest possible levels.

Gavin Trippe is not just a man of visions, he has been there, done it and got more of the T-shirts than almost any other Promoter alive today. He invented Superbiker back in the early 1970s (which became modern day Supermoto), was responsible for introducing World Championship Moto-X to the USA, he was instrumental in organising and promoting the Trans-Atlantic Match Races and is still heavily involved in Supercross in the USA. If Gavin puts his mind to a project, it works and we are extremely pleased to have his support. Visit his site at www.450moto.com and check out his blog to get an idea of the sheer energy of this man.

We now have 22 Moto450 machines signed up for 2010 with bikes from Honda, KTM, Yamaha, Ducati, Kawasaki and Aprilia. There are also more in the pipeline and the chance to race against the prototype Supermono machines is generating intense excitement amongst a lot of the up and coming ex-Superteens.

Lap Records Updated
Thursday, 25 February 2010

Superteen action from 2009
The Thundersport GB lap records have now all been updated and loaded into the Download Docs section to save you having to trawl through the Sports Timing Services database to find them.

Steve Day and Robin Murphy, our hard working commentators, will be keeping them up to date as the 2010 season progresses. We will also shortly be adding a "Race Records" section too, to give all the fastest full race distance times and speeds.

As the competition will be even more fierce this year, expect to see many records fall as the season heats up. We also have two new classes, F1 sidecars and Supermonos, so there are lap and race records still to be established there. The Streetfighter class has also been joined by a new element, the Bridgestone Supermoto road race series, which will surely see the Streetfighter C records tumble.

All in all, a cracking season of varied race action in store and it kicks off in just 3 weeks time at Mallory Park.

The Big Price Freeze!
Tuesday, 16 February 2010

Image
Everyone knows that the costs of just about everything in life goes up year after year and the same is true in the motorsport business. Yet despite the fact that the costs of organising meetings including; circuit hire, insurance, medical services and postage have gone up by over 5% on average, Thundersport GB Race Entries remain static for a 3rd consecutive season!

We have been able to accomplish this thanks in large part to our huge success in 2009 and the tremendous support that we have from riders, marshals, officials, sponsors and other supporters. Our new "Premier" registration actually means that the cost of contesting the series as a whole has actually gone down by nearly 6% for riders based in England and Wales and by 4% for Scottish, Irish and European riders who have taken up that option. Riders having taken "Standard" registrations will also benefit by seeing the 2008 & 2009 price structure frozen for the new season.

We have also tried to structure our season around the 3 Bank Holiday weekends (2 in May and 1 in August) to try and minimise the amount of time off work for all of our competitors and supporters. From the response in registrations and early entries, it is clear that this has struck a positive note with almost everyone and coupled with our innovative and interesting class/meeting structure looks like giving us a fantastic season once again in 2010.

Seasons Entries in the Post
Sunday, 07 February 2010

Superstock action from 2009
The new season is almost upon us and we've just finished getting all the envelopes ready with all the seasons Entry Forms, Supplementary Regulations and a nice coluor wall-planner to help you keep track of all the important events during the course of the year. Everything will be picked up by our local sorting office at 11.00am tomorrow (Monday 8th Feb) so hopefully they will be landing on your doormats on Tuesday/Wednesday.

Once again, it's looking as though it's going to be a busy season, so it might be a good idea to sit down and fill out your seasons entries all at once (or do what I used to do and get the wife to do them). We don't debit any funds until at least 3 weeks before each individual event, so there is no financial penalty in doing it this way. You can then get on with the business of concentrating on your racing.

All Race and Test Day Entry Forms will soon also be available in the Download docs section (about 3-4 days time).

Johnny Rotten, Huggy Bear and a random pimp
After a delay in which I had to have an operation to have my "Fear of the Internet" gland removed, I have now managed to publish the photos from our 2009 Awards Night.I remember most of the evening, but I wonder just how many of the 450 other guests can recall much of what happened beyond midnight.

I apologise in advance, both for the delay and the formatting, but I still have my "IT" L-plates on. Photos can be accessed by clicking on this link http://davidstewart.jalbum.net/Awards%20Night%20Photos/ It was a great night and no one entered into it more than the Thundersport 500 nutters pictured. All photos courtesey of John Ward.

Syd, Jeremy and Ian with Overall 2009 Champion Mike Price

Our overall champion Michael Price is also pictured with one of our special guests Jeremy McWilliams, who didn't touch a drop all evening, (honest guv!) along with Ian Newton and the inimitable Syd.

Please feel free to download and share these images, including the one of our number one compere Steve 'the stud' Day having a sneaky fag break (but don't tell his mum or he won't be allowed out to play for a week!).

We are now almost ready to send out the Entry Forms and Regulations for the new season (should be sent out by 5th Feb) so that we can start the whole championship ball rolling again, which will culminate in us celebrating a whole new set of champions at the same time next year!

 Come and Join Us!

GP3 action from 2009
Now the New Year break is over, it’s time to start thinking seriously about the return of the sunshine and the new racing season. Now that all our race dates and TV slots for 2010 have been confirmed we are able to release the championship dates and venues for all classes. Most classes take part at 9 out of 10 meetings, with Aprilia Superteens taking in all 10, whereas F1 Sidecars and Supermono take in 8 meetings each.

We have published this information in Download Docs under “2010 Class Information” in two separate formats for ease of reference.

We think 2010 is going to be an absolutely fantastic year for Thundersport GB and all of our competitors, marshals, officials and friends. To make it easier to keep in touch with all the breaking news and inside information, why not join Steves new Thundersport GB Facebook group by clicking http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=24483685446&ref=ts
